GreenCE Inc. has launched the industry’s first free LEED (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) Exam Prep program to educate design professionals about green building principles and the LEED rating systems. The new LEED Exam Prep course features video, animation, music, and case studies.
Recently, the U.S. Green Building Council (USGBC) released its new LEED v4 rating systems. The new LEED certification program utilizes Life Cycle Assessment (LCA), Environmental Product Declarations (EPDs), and Health Product Declarations (HPDs) to design healthier and more efficient buildings.
“The LEED rating system has helped the design and construction industry accelerate the necessary transition to a sustainable built environment” said Glen Phillips, Director of Sustainable Education at GreenCE. “The only way to ensure that we continue this transition is to increase sustainable design literacy at all levels, from the penniless college student considering a career in architecture, to executives at the world’s largest corporations who are looking for ways to cut costs and reduce risk. With the launch of the industry’s very first no-cost LEED exam preparation course, we are doing our own small part to help welcome the leaders of tomorrow into the conversation today.”
Education providers have been selling LEED exam preparation materials for the last decade. Although building technologies and methods of learning have radically transformed during this period, the underlying model of “fee for participation” for LEED exam prep has remained the only option to date. Several industries and universities have removed similar financial barriers for access to high quality education programs.
“LEED exam prep should educate, engage, and entertain participants,” said Brad Blank, Media Director of GreenCE. “We’ve created an education program that utilizes 21st century tools such as video content and computer animation. We anticipate a significant interest in the free LEED exam prep program from architects, engineers, interior designers, contractors, and other professionals. LEED accredited professionals are highly sought out in the marketplace and we hope to contribute to green building by offering free LEED exam prep.”
