Sarasota airport to install Birdair canopies

News | February 1, 2016 | By:

As part of an initiative to improve the facility, Sarasota Bradenton International Airport in Sarasota, Fla., will install three new PTFE fiberglass membrane barrel-vault canopy structures to its baggage claim, ticketing and curbside areas.

The airport chose Buffalo, N.Y.-based Birdair to manage the design, fabrication and installation of the structures. The canopy system will feature approximately 8,800 square feet of membrane. PTFE fiberglass membrane was chosen in part for its durability in any climate. It can withstand scorching heat, is immune to UV radiation and can be cleaned by rainwater.

The project is expected to be completed in Summer 2016.
