Today’s fabric architecture market

The growing demand for energy-saving, sustainable solutions is changing the way architects and engineers design structures, giving fabric an impressive advantage over traditional construction materials. Demand is also creating new markets for shade structures with unique designs and creative elements that appeal to diverse commercial, public and residential needs.

In 2008, the U.S. lightweight structures market declined at a rate of -1%; it is expected to decline by 10-15% in 2009 due to a very poor construction market—there has been a significant lack of demand for structures projects in 2009. The industry will be down again in 2010—not as severely as in 2009—expect growth to be down 5-10%. In 2011, it should start to return to its traditional annual growth rate of around 2-3%.
