Canopy provides focal point for entertainment deck

This canopy, which won an Award of Excellence in the free-standing canopies category of the 2007 International Achievement Awards, is a spectacular focal point for the entertainment deck of a beachside condominium complex in Naples, Fla. It meshes a circular-peaked canopy with two custom-fabricated, circular aluminum beams. The crescent-shaped trellis runs through the middle of the entire bar canopy (the trellis is 35m by 12m overall.) The supporting ring beams were fabricated in-house by plasma-cutting the tops and bottoms, and by rolling the sides. All metal was dual-painted on-site with highperformance industrial enamel paint. Neoprene pads were used to separate aluminum from concrete.
