Lit awnings resemble old "arcade" awnings

For the Wynn Casino’s exterior, the client wanted to make a statement both day and night. The request was for 80 lit awnings, which won an Outstanding Achievement Award in the commercial awnings category of the 2007 International Achievement Awards, in eyelid, curved and straight designs to be added to the ground floor exterior of the casino, located in Macau, China. The client wanted the awnings to look like old “arcade” awnings, with exposed light bulbs, and to be lit from underneath. They also needed to be engineered to withstand 258km/hr wind speeds. The lights were mounted on genuine brass U-channels with a high-polish finish. To meet tight deadlines, the design had to allow installers to skin the awnings on the ground and fit the lights and soffit panels after lifting and fitting the frames into a recess in the building wall.
