Shanghai Jiao Tong University (SJTU) Gymnasium is located in the Min Hang Campus of SJTU in Shanghai, China. The building, which can hold large games or performances, is one of the largest and most advanced gymnasiums among the colleges of China. The multifunctional building, with its novel design, has become a landmark of SJTU. A long-span steel frame shell with a double layer of PTFE fabric, which won an Outstanding Achievement Award in the tensile structures, more than 25,000 sq. ft. category of the 2008 International Achievement Awards, makes up the main part of the gymnasium. The shell takes on ellipse shape.
