Venue hosts traveling exhibit of design studio's projects

Exhibition, March 11; April 30 — Architecture and Vision: From Pyramids to Spacecraft

The Italian Cultural Institute of Chicago is the first venue to host a traveling exhibition of selected projects by the design studio Architecture and Vision, founded by Italian architect Arturo Vittori and Swiss architect Andreas Vogler. Works on display include a model of A&V’s inflatable space station MoonBaseTwo (2007) for conducting experiments on the Moon, and MarsCruiserOne (2007), a pressurized mobile lab vehicle for exploring Mars. The designers’ prototype DesertSeal (above) became part of the permanent collection of the Museum of Modern Art in 2006.

The exhibition travels west in April to appear at Swissnex in San Francisco.
