Moving illuminated object opens new possibilities in membranes

This illuminated object, called “Flower Dance,” is a moving illumination, intended to open new possibilities in membranes. The object, which won an Award of Excellence in the commercial interiors category of the 2007 International Achievement Awards, is located in Midland Square, a building complex in front of Nagoya Station in Nagoya, Japan. “Flower Dance” is usually housed in the atrium ceiling but for light show performances, it descends from the ceiling, changes its light color and extends into a slender shape. The membrane’s unique properties make the avant-garde object’s movement possible and offers something that goes beyond mere fun.
