2008 ACADIA conference to cover biological processes and computation

The Association for Computer-Aided Design in Architecture (ACADIA) will hold its 2008 conference on the theme of biological processes and computation in Minneapolis, Minn. from Oct. 16-19. The conference, named “Silicon & Skin," seeks to identify and examine current trends in digital design technologies develop and applied in the framework of biologically inspired processes and digitally assisted sustainable design.

Keynote speakers for the conference include Michael Weinstock, Academic Head, Architectural Association School of Architecture, London; George Jeronimidis, director of the Centre for Biomimetics, University of Reading, UK; Cristina Diaz Moreno & Efran Garcia Grinda, co-founders and directors of AMID (CERO9); Sanford Kwinter, writer and architectural critic; François Roche, founder and architect of R&Sie, Paris; and Philippe Rahm, founder of Philippe Rahm Architects. Numerous papers have been accepted and will be presented in the categories of design and design theory, engineering, and science.
