Afterparty, the installation by MOS architects at the Brooklyn gallery P.S.1 opened in June to much acclaim. The installation is part of the annual Young Architect’s Program run collaboratively with the Museum of Modern Art to explore new design directions. MOS’s design featured several wind chimneys made from aluminum fabric stretched across a structural armature, then thatched with a geo-textile from Indonesia. The chimneys exploit the stack effect of natural air flow to cool the courtyard where various museum-related events are scheduled. The work is on view until late September.
