Approximate allowable max. tensile load in threaded fasteners loaded in tension and shear

News | | By:

This table shows the approximate allowable max. tensile load in threaded fasteners loaded in tension and shear.

Notes:

  1. Above allowable tensile loads are based on Ft=26-1.8fv≤20, where Ft is the allowable tensile stress, fv is the actual shear stress.
  2. Fu, the ultimate strength of the fastener, is assumed to be 40 k.s.i.
  3. The fastener is assumed to be loaded in shear to 0.1875 Fu=7.5 k.s.i.
