In an attempt to enter the Guinness Book of Records during the recent R+T trade show of rolling shutters, doors and gates, and sun protection equipment, the Stuttgart, Germany international trade fare unveiled an enormous retractable awning. Measuring 14m by 7.4m, the fully functioning articulating arm shade opened and closed every four minutes during the show. Conceived as an icon for one of the leading trade fairs for the construction industry, the awning was seen by an estimated 22,000 trade visitors who passed through the showrooms during the fair’s four-day run in mid February.
