This beachfront resort on Fiji’s Denarau Island wanted to provide its pool and spa area with comfortable shaded areas. The integrated island resort houses a central lagoon-style pool with private beaches for its patrons. These structures, which won an Outstanding Achievement Award in the architectural structures category of the 2007 International Achievement Awards, are a juxtaposition to the traditional Fijian architecture of the resort, lending a sculptural feel to the lagoon pools. The grand opening was a success, showcasing the shade structures located in and around the main pool area.
