Double-sided banners create visually appealing storefront

The challenge was to create a storefront display that better utilized the customer’s expensive retail space and to create an environment that provided privacy without being totally closed off. The space, an Avant storefront in Minneapolis, Minn., also needed to be visually pleasing to customers inside while catching the eye of pedestrian traffic outside. Through a combination of opaque and transparent fabrics, customers can look out. The fabrics — six poly-knit and 10 Celtic cloth double-sided banners — produce a sharply printed image. Accomplished in about one day, this simple installation, which won an Outstanding Achievement Award in the interior banners category of the 2007 International Achievement Awards, did not disrupt business and it used the smallest number of outside vendors possible. It has provided more usable space and contractors were able to use existing lighting.
