News | October 13, 2010 | By:

The International Oeko-Tex® Association will present “Greening the Supply Chain” during the Advanced Textiles Conference at IFAI Expo Americas 2010 at the Orange County Convention Center in Orlando, Fla. on October 26.

Dina Dunn, who speak on behalf of Oeko-Tex® , will outline the requirements for global textile certification standards, highlighting testing for potentially harmful substances and standards for ecologically responsible textile manufacturing facilities. She will share information on Oeko-Tex® Standard 100 Certification, which ensures that apparel and other textile products are tested to be free from harmful levels of more than 100 potentially dangerous substances. Dunn will also review Oeko-Tex® Standard 1000, which certifies that manufacturing facilities operate with environmentally and socially conscientious methods.

“The most critical aspect of any textile sustainability strategy is to make products that don’t harm the people who interact with them,” says Dunn. “Only safe products are sustainable over time.”
