Tensioned-fabric city of the future

Conceived as part of an imaginary Paris with its arteries connected to a metropolis of the future, la “Ville Intelligente”, designed by Jakob + MacFarlane architects, opened this June in Paris’ Park de la Villette like a vision of an orange spacecraft. The ephemeral Ville Intelligente appeared as part of an exposition of architecture and urban settings called Hellodemain (Hello Tomorrow), created to explore and present new technologies—new means of information, communication and transportation—that might invigorate our cities of tomorrow.

Jakob + MacFarlane designed the screaming orange steel space frame and tensioned fabric (a custom color from Ferrari Textiles) pavilion for Groupe Orange + Artevia. The pavilion was gone by the end of the month.
