Foldable shade fills a market niche

En-Fold roof from Uni-Systems, is a new high-performance retractable roof system designed for large commercial applications such as outdoor dining areas, outdoor event centers, pool decks and sports facilities. The En-Fold system fills a market niche between off-the-shelf and custom one-off retractable membrane structures. Uni-Systems, a leader in the design and integration of large-scale, high performance kinetic structures such as retractable roofs on major stadiums or retractable playing fields, has applied its experience and knowledge to the En-Fold concept, which fully resolves all fabric pretension forces within the system’s drive beams and perpendicular idler beams.

According to Uni-Systems, the En-Fold is ideal for retrofits in existing structures because the system does not impose high loads into the surrounding architecture and requires little or no reinforcement. En-Fold is engineered for clear spans up to 12m (40 ft.), and with supplemental support up to 30.5m (100 ft.) The system comes standard with Sefar Tenara® 4T40 fabric; alternate choices include Serge Ferrari 502, 702, 1002 T2 and 1202 T2 fabrics.
