Miró Rivera designs for Formula 1

Austin, Texas-based Miró Rivera Architects have designed a new race course at the Circuit of the Americas, the first purpose-built Formula 1 Grand Prix™ facility in the U.S. The new facilities debuted mid-November by hosting the 2012 Formula 1 United States Grand Prix. The architects’ innovative design includes a modular “kit of parts” that can be added onto. Besides designing a 6,500 seat tower amphitheater, and a grand plaza, observation tower, ticketing buildings and concession areas, Miró Rivera designed a main grandstand with fabric-clad canopies.

The grandstand and concessions buildings were conceived as a modular system of components that can be arranged according to need, providing a flexibility that allows the site to grow over time.
