Slide-on-wire canopies have become a common part of modern outdoor design for their simplicity, beauty and ability to provide on-demand shade and be retracted easily when desired.
There have been many challenges, however, because of the custom-made nature of the products. To fit properly, the canopies require precise pre-measurement, fabric and color selection, weeks of fabrication and installation. Once installed, the custom canopies can’t be modified, and any repairs require a trip back to the shop.
Dr. Alan Shargani encountered these drawbacks firsthand as a consumer and felt that the current canopies were inadequate. So he designed a canopy that is flexible, versatile and can fit any space.
Unlike custom canopies that are one piece, Infinity Canopy’s unique modular design uses individual shade panels that are connected together to create a canopy that can be configured to be as long and wide as needed, in one or multiple colors, and adaptable to any space. Every aspect of an Infinity Canopy can be controlled by the user to create infinite configurations and design possibilities that can’t be replicated by other shade systems.
According to Dr. Shargani, the most compelling feature of Infinity Canopy is the ability to create a single or multicolored canopy, and change it within minutes. Infinity Canopy is the only shade system that can be modified after installation.
Infinity Canopy was unveiled at the awning industry’s main annual event, IFAI Specialty Fabrics Expo in Minneapolis, Minn. Infinity Canopy won a “ShowStoppers” award as voted on by show attendees.
Development for Infinity Canopy will be ongoing. “We’re working on new accessories and parts for Infinity Canopy to further expand its functions and design options,” Shargani says. “The possibilities are truly infinite.”
