This commercial awning project located in Little Rock, Ark. won an Outstanding Achievement Award from the Industrial Fabrics Association International. Designed for the front entrance of the Hillcrest Art Gallery, the awning was created in concert with the client’s wish for a “sculpture” of four vividly-colored fabric cubes connected by a black box valance that supplied the “base” of the sculpture as well as a place to harbor hidden lighting and provide weather protection for the gallery’s front windows. Staple-in aluminum framing simplified fabrication of multiple plane intersections of the variegated cubes.
