Inflatable ball showcases international rugby

Exteriors | March 1, 2008 | By:

Paris: An inflatable rugby ball the size of a small building has inaugurated a tour of international rugby matches leading up to the World Cup in 2011, to be held in New Zealand. The fabric structure was debuted under the Eiffel Tower during the 2007 Rugby World Cup, held in France. The “ball” will travel from international rugby match to match until it is installed in New Zealand for the opening of the World Cup. A single layer of Ferrari Précontraint 502 fabric membrane is fixed to the edge of a wooden platform at a dynamic 13-angle and surrounded by green tarps to simulate a rugby pitch.
