SEFAR Vision fabric contributes to Italian skyline

News | September 1, 2013 | By:

The Italian city of Udine welcomes a graceful, modern new office building to its urban landscape. The C Quadro Executive Building, designed using SEFAR® Architecture Vision fabric, mirrors the recognizable skyline of the financial district, while contributing a modern aesthetic.

Constructed on an empty lot, the administrative building boasts a façade that accentuates the relationship between the contemporary structure and its historic surroundings. SEFAR Architecture Vision glass interlayer AL 260/55, finished with a golden print, helped the complex blend beautifully with neighboring properties. This single-sided, aluminum-coated fabric enables natural sunlight to warm the building and air to circulate naturally. The 55% mesh opening allows for external visibility from within.

The C Quadro building incorporates two fronts: a classic window wall and a high-tech glass casing to create a distinctive exterior and improved thermal performance properties. Metal crosspieces link the two elements and allow each layer to be individually serviced.

SEFAR Architecture Vision is a metal-coated precision fabric interlayer, typically laminated within glass or other transparent materials, to create unique aesthetic design possibilities in exterior glass facades, windows and interior and decorative glass partition wall systems. The fabric is printable with UV-stabilized inks to produce Pantone colors, patterns and other design effects. With its unique metal coatings and mesh configurations, Vision improves the thermal insulating qualities for reducing solar heat gain, while allowing for light transmission and unobstructed views. Vision materials can be metal coated on one or both sides to produce the desired effect.

Vision fabrics are available in five fabric density configurations and each can be coated with five different metal coatings: aluminum, aluminum/copper, chrome, copper, and titanium. They feature plain or twill weaves in a variety of aperture percentages (25-70%) and light transmission percentages (18-60%).

SEFAR Architecture manufactures monofilament precision and ePTFE yarn fabrics and fabric systems for interior and exterior architectural applications. Sefar has cooperated with experienced lighting technicians and polymer experts to develop a new generation of fabrics for the architectural and design community.
